I grew up outside, wandering creeks, sidestepping snakes, and filling buckets with blackberries. As I got older, my adventures grew. I spent weeks living in a canvas tent searching for hominid fossils in Ethiopia, hiked long stretches of the Appalachian Trail, and perfected the art of car camping.

Spending that much time outdoors changes you. The world feels bigger. Nature stays busy no matter what is happening in your life. It puts things in perspective. You focus on what matters. You notice what endures.

I didn't think much about what I was wearing. I accepted that there were certain pieces you just had to have, and my choices were limited. I bought the darkest colors I could find and made do with the rest. I would rather have a pastel fleece than no fleece on a cold night, but if I have time to prepare, I want options that make me feel like me.

During a major life change last year, I realized something was missing. I wanted more time outside, more movement, more connection. But when I looked for gear that felt like me, not much had changed since those earlier trips. Where was all the dark aesthetic hiking gear? Did they make something like goth hiking gear? Did they make hiking gear that isn’t ugly? Could I find merino wool socks with skulls? Everything I saw was earth tones, neon, or uninspired. The technical gear worked, but it did not reflect who I was.

I wanted to create outdoor clothing and gear that carried the feeling I had in those wild places — functional, high-quality, and unapologetically personal. I wanted to share that with other people who never felt seen by mainstream outdoor brands.

That is where Wildermoth Outfitters began. We design alternative outdoor clothing and gear that different. Whether you are hiking a ridge at dawn or walking through town after a day in the woods, our pieces are made to work hard and feel like you.'
